Buttercream Frosting:
1 1/2cupsUnsalted Butterroom temperature
4 1/2 to 5cupspowdered sugaror added to taste
1/4tspfine saltor to taste
4tspvanilla extract
3-4Tbspheavy cream or whole milkadded to desired consistency

Instructions
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or handheld electric mixer), beat butter on high speed for 5 minutes or until lightened in color and whipped, scraping down the bowl as needed.
Sift powdered sugar.
Change to paddle attachment, reduce mixer to medium-low speed and add powdered sugar one spoonful at a time, letting it incorporate with each addition. Add powdered sugar to taste and beat until it is fully combined, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.
Add salt and vanilla and beat until incorporated.
Add heavy cream or milk, 1 TBSP at a time until you reach the desired consistency. Beat another minute until whipped and well combined.
Assemble:
Top the brownies with the butter cream and add a festive topping. I like to use a plastic baggie for this step. Fill the baggie with the frosting then snip off the corner of the baggie with scissors for a makeshift piping bag.
