This Easy Homemade Valentine’s Day Candy is crafted from the simplest of ingredients – saltine crackers, brown sugar, butter, chocolate chips, and a sprinkle of Valentine’s Day magic, love. The result? A tasty, toffee-like candy that is perfect for sharing. But here’s the best part – the recipe is incredibly versatile. Switch things up and use white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or experiment with different sprinkles and toppings.
Ingredients for Valentine’s Day Cracker Candy
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers
- 2 sticks of butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 12 oz of chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or a combination.
- Suggested toppings – festive sprinkles, candies, melted chocolate and/or nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place crackers on parchment in a single layer side by side.
- Combine butter and sugar in a pot over medium-high heat stirring occasionally.
- Once the mixture comes to a boil, stir frequently for 3.5 minutes exactly then remove from heat.
- Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the crackers and use a spatula to spread into an even layer, covering all of the crackers. Bake for 6 minutes.
- Add chocolate chips on top and wait 90 seconds allowing chocolate to become soft. Spread evenly.
- Use the toppings of your choice to decorate then allow to fully cool before cracking into pieces.
- *Speed up the cooling process by placing the candy in the fridge or on a table outside (please keep animals in mind).
