Mini Chicken and Waffles (Easy Party Appetizer)
Perfect Easy Party Appetizer
If you’re looking for an easy chicken and waffles appetizer that feels fun, elevated, and totally crowd-pleasing, this is it. These mini chicken and waffles come together fast, use simple store-bought ingredients, and somehow always steal the show (even though I hardly ever see anyone actually making this appetizer).
The best part? This entire chicken and waffles party appetizer can be made for under $20 and in less than 30 minutes, start to finish. It’s one of those easy appetizers for a crowd that looks impressive without being fussy. Every single time I make it, there are no leftovers.
Why This Appetizer Works
- Sweet + savory flavor combo everyone loves
- Perfect bite-size waffle bites with chicken
- Uses freezer staples but looks totally elevated
- Great for game day, brunch, showers, and parties
- So easy you wouldn’t expect anyone to ask for the recipe… but they always do
Ingredients
- 1 (1.5 lb) bag Just Bare Chicken Nuggets
- 1 (10.9 oz) box Eggo Mini Waffles
- Hot honey (regular honey or syrup works too)
- Decorative toothpicks or small skewers
👉 The skewers matter. Using cute decorative picks or skewers instantly makes this appetizer feel more polished and party-ready—and they’re perfect for entertaining. These are the skewers I used.
How to Make Mini Chicken and Waffles
*printable recipe card is available at the bottom of this page
Step One: Bake the Chicken Nuggets
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Place the nuggets on a baking pan lined with silicone liners and bake on the middle rack for 10 minutes.
Step Two: Add the Mini Waffles
After 10 minutes, place the mini waffles on a second lined baking pan and put them on the top rack.
Bake both the nuggets and waffles together for 13 more minutes.
Step Three: Crisp the Waffles
Flip the mini waffles over and broil on high for 2 minutes until golden and crispy. Keep a close eye on them.
Step Four: Assemble
- Break the mini waffles apart
- Place one chicken nugget on top of each waffle
- Secure with a toothpick or skewer
Step Five: Drizzle with Honey
Drizzle hot honey close to the chicken (not all over the skewer). This keeps things neat and avoids sticky fingers for your guests.
Tips, Swaps & Serving Ideas
- Can’t find mini waffles?
You can absolutely cut regular waffles into quarters or make homemade waffles. That said, I just love the look of the mini waffles for entertaining—they’re the perfect size for appetizers.
- Why I use baking pans + silicone liners:
I use baking pans lined with silicone liners for both the nuggets and the waffles. Nothing sticks, everything crisps beautifully, and cleanup is quick and easy—always a win when you’re hosting.
- Serve it up pretty:
These look amazing on a serving platter, especially for parties or game day spreads. I’ll link the exact platter shown in my photos so you can recreate the look.
Final Thoughts
These mini chicken and waffles appetizers are one of those recipes that just work. They’re easy, budget-friendly, fast, and always a hit. I never expect anyone to ask for the recipe because they’re so simple—but without fail, someone always does.
If you need a reliable easy party appetizer, game day snack, or brunch appetizer idea, this one deserves a spot in your rotation.
